Being a massive fan of hip hop, i cannot help but feel the genre is losing its touch. It's an art form built on being unique, being able to weave intricate rhymes and witty wordplay into a story people can relate to. However, modern hip hop is more of a circus act, the sideshow more interesting than the music. Talent does not seem to matter these days (which would explain why a certain red-haired singer is incredibly popular, despite not being able to consistently hit a note outside of a studio filled with machines that cover up her obvious flaws).
I came across the intelligently raw wordplay of Nitty Scott-MC on my trip to New York in the summer of 2010, and there's no denying the talent this lady has. There's no circus, no sideshow, no playing on her looks (stunning as she is), no gimmicks. It's simple, pure and as raw as it gets. She makes no effort to convince you to like her, no effort to sell herself to generate a buzz, no crazy hairdo or outrageous outfits. In a simple sweatshirt, jeans and kicks, Nitty Scott-MC's rhymes force you to drop everything and take note.
